There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where casino gaming is not legal. Eight casinos are based in a relatively small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime destination, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 1700, and although visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most borders.
The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat casino, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 slot machine games and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel building that highlights many amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight tables.
