Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is not legal. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 1700, and even though visas are for all intents and purposes needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is true of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling hall, features 150 one armed bandits and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel building that highlights a number of luxuries on top of the casino, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
